Brooklynn Gets the Hiccups!

We have yet to take very many videos of Brooklynn because, at this point, a photo basically captures her everyday life. Luckily tonight, we happened to have the video camera out to capture her during a brief moment of hiccups. Brooklynn is not a huge fan of the burp, so hiccups are a regular part of our days!

Brooklynn's Play List

Every day Brooklynn and I listen and sing different songs on the computer.  Some songs she likes and reacts to and others she could care less about.  Here are Brooklynn's favorites for those of you future babysitters that may need to stop her crying one day!

Songs that put Brooklynn to sleep:

Brooklynn's favorite singer at the moment is Bill Withers.  She is a big fan of several of his songs.  Her two favorites are Lean on Me and Ain't no sunshine when she's gone.

If you want to make Brooklynn cry just play any Frank Sinatra song.  

If you want to make Nick leave the room just ask me to sing any of the above songs.  Brooklynn, however, loves when I sing to her!

Going for an afternoon stroll

After all the snow and cold weather earlier in the week, today we had a 60 degree day! Brooklynn and I were eager to get out of the house, so we went for an afternoon stroll.  Brooklynn is a big fan of going for walks!  This is a picture of her bundled up in her new outfit that Mimi and Pops purchased! Brooklynn's First Real Bath

Tonight Brooklynn had her first real bath!  As you can tell she did not enjoy it.  She screamed at the top of her lungs the majority of the time.  After calming down and drying off, Brooklynn decided that the sweetest revenge would be to wet all over herself, the changing pad, diaper that I was in the process of putting on, and her pajamas!  I guess we all know who got the last laugh.

Two Week Check-up

Today Brooklynn went for her two week check-up.  She now weighs 8 lbs 5 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long.  The doctor said that she is a healthy girl and has excellent control of her head to be so young.  Recently Brooklynn has had an upset stomach and has been fussy, so the doctor decided to change her formula to one that she may be able to digest more easily.  Either way she said that it is common for babies her age to have this problem because of the immaturity of the digestive system and that in a few weeks she should be over it.

Brooklynn has found a way to wiggle out of her sleep positioner during the night, but as long as she keeps on sleeping we don't mind!  We've added some new pictures in our Family Album.  Check them out!

Music!

Today Brooklynn learned about three different instruments.  She is a big fan of the piano and banjo, but not so crazy about the electric violin.  I also found out that she prefers Ann Murray's version of "You are my Sunshine" instead of Ray Charles' version!  Her favorite song, however, is Canon in D.  It puts her to sleep every time!  Tomorrow Nick insists that she learn about the pan flute and the cow bell. 

More Pictures

Here are a few more pictures from over the weekend.  We survived our first night without grandma and Brooklynn slept almost five hours again!  She is such a sweet girl and still perfecting that pouty lip for future use!

A Good Night's Sleep

Brooklynn had her first good night's sleep at home last night.  The doctor suggested not waking her up every three hours to eat and just letting her wake up on her own since she is gaining weight and eating so well.  The only problem with this is that Brooklynn loves to snuggle and doesn't like to sleep in her crib during the night.  We bought a sleep positioner yesterday and put her to bed around 11:15.  She slept until 3:50 this morning!  After that she was wide awake and ready to go for the day, but Nick and I were excited that she actually slept for almost 5 hours!  We'll see how she does tonight . . .

First Doctor's Appointment

This morning we bundled Brooklynn up and set off for her first doctor's appointment.  When we left the hospital Brooklynn's  weight was down to 7 lbs 3 oz and today she was back up to 7 lbs 7 oz.  The doctor said that Brooklynn looks great and is a happy, healthy baby!

Brooklynn's First "Bath"

Brooklynn received her first official  "bath" tonight.  She is not a fan of being naked, but just like her brother, Tugboat, she soon realized that being dried off with a warm towel is the best part!
