Kristy's Blog

I meant to post this earlier in the week, but I haven't gotten around to it.  Most of you who read the blog regularly know Kristy, my volunteer buddy.  She stopped by the hospital last Monday and wrote her own blog post about her visit.  I thought it was a pretty sweet post about Nick.

Here's the link if you are interested.

One Week Old

Hayden had his first doctor's appointment last Thursday.  When he was born he weighed 9lbs and when we left the hospital he was 8 lbs 10 oz.  so I was eager to see how he was progressing.

Dad came along to drive and help me carry the car seat.  Our visit was short and sweet.  I have to say that I really love Hayden's new doctor, Dr. Dobson.  He saw Hayden in the hospital, so it was nice that we already knew him.  He last checked Hayden out on Tuesday so he was already up to date on Hayden's progress.

Here are some pics as Hayden got ready for his second car ride.

Here are Hayden's stats from Week One:

Weight: 8lbs 13ozs - 72nd percentile
Height: 21 in.- 82nd percentile

Yay for gaining a couple ounces in the day and half since we left the hospital.  I'm not sure about the length.  Either Hayden shrunk a 1/2 inch or somebody messed up a measurement.  I can't imagine it's easy to measure a newborn, but we'll see how he measures up when we go back next Friday.  The goal is to be over his birth weight.  I don't think that will be a problem because Hayden sure isn't going to miss a bottle.

Here is a pic of Hayden this morning.  I'm pretty excited that he loves the swing.  Brooklynn didn't care for it and preferred the bouncer, so we didn't get to use it much the first time around.

Even though it looks like he always has a paci in his mouth, he really doesn't use it very much.  Mostly, after meal times which seems to be the only time I can grab the camera!

Hayden is starting to open his eyes more and more.  He is always looking for Brooklynn when he hears her voice.  They say newborns recognize voices from being in the womb.  I guess Brooklynn's would be one that he heard all the time besides my own.  Although  I'm pretty sure there are a couple of kids in my class that he would recognize as well if that's the case.  ;)

More Pics

Hayden has been such a great baby.  I've been worried about him for months now with the stress of Mom's illness and death.  I've tried really hard to control my emotions over the summer because I surely didn't want to stress him out before he even got here.  Luckily all the worrying I did over Hayden was for nothing, he is a happy and healthy little boy.

Here are a few pics that we took while in the hospital over the past few days along with a description for those that don't know everyone!

Uncle Blake (my brother)

 Aunt Katie (Nick's sister)

 Aunt Kaley (Blake's wife)

Aunt Shay (My mom's sister) along with Papa (Nick's grandfather)

 Granny (Nick's grandmother)

Aunt Kayla (Nick's sister) and Gram (Nick's mom)

Uncle Justin (Kayla's husband) This was his first time holding a newborn!  He looks like a natural.

Hayden Andrew

Hayden Andrew Farr arrived Saturday morning at 7:05.  We barely made it to the hospital in time for a c section.  We both are doing well and we came home today.  Here are just a few pics. I'll add more of all our visitors tomorrow.

Welcome to the world!

No News

No exciting news here.  We are still waiting around on baby.  Brooklynn is getting over an upper respiratory infection and ear infection. It hasn't slowed her down though.  Here is a picture of her from dance class on Tuesday night.  She is in love with the color purple here lately and only wants to wear her purple skirt.

This week we are working on getting B signed up for soccer classes.  She is super excited about that as well.  Soccer will start in October!

A Little Organization?

Yesterday when Nick got B up from her nap this is what he found.
Apparently Brooklynn decided to organize her outfits for the week.

Fun Saturday

Brooklynn has really enjoyed riding the golf cart (or tractor as she calls it) around the neighborhood each night.  Last night we passed about four other families on golf carts doing the same thing.  B thinks she is hot stuff now that she has one too!

Here is a pic from Wednesday.  This was B's first ride.
Brooklynn and I spent the afternoon playing.  We put together nine different puzzles, played two different games of memory, and worked on recognizing our numbers 1-25.  After we made dinner, B and I made Pops his favorite coconut cake!

We also managed to squeeze in a nice long nap and some time to watch the Tigers play!

Baby Update:  I went to the doctor last Thursday, a day early because I wasn't feeling well.  The doc went ahead and wrote me out of work.  Luckily I'm not on bed rest, just taking it easy until Hayden gets here.  I have an ultrasound again Thursday to determine how big Hayden is at this point.  He could be here any day!

"Frivolous"

Dad called last week and told me that before Mom died she told him that she wanted him to buy Blake and I something "frivolous" after she passed away and things calmed down.  Something that we wanted but would never buy for ourselves.   At first when Dad told me he was going to buy us something I got a little upset. Mom and Dad have already spent a fortune on doctor's bills and that is the last thing he needs to worry about. But Dad said that she wanted us to have something for helping to take care of her this summer when she was so sick.   I realized after talking to Dad that Mom wanted to do this to make us smile because she knew that we would be sad and missing her greatly.

Something frivolous?!?  I was thinking that we could buy a new pair of shoes.  My Clark's are getting kind of worn out.  Uh, no. Dad had something much better in mind . . .

Imagine our shock when Dad told us that he was having golf carts built any way we wanted them.

Yes, I have really wanted a golf cart.  In our neighborhood every night families ride around with their kids on the back and in the summer time people use them to go back and forth to the pools.  I've mentioned it to Nick several times, but he wasn't biting.  He sure got excited when he found out we were getting one! Today Dad delivered them.  The pic above is actually Blake's golf cart. I, of course, opted for the striped orange seats.  They have been back ordered but will be installed next week.  Until then, we will make do with plain old white seats.  :)

A trip to Mr. Knickerbocker's this weekend will be necessary so we can add some much needed Clemson paws!  I'm pretty sure Mom wouldn't approve of that!

Cute

It's been a busy week and I haven't had any time to post.  There is so much to do at the beginning of the year and add on top of that the preparations necessary for a long term sub, and I have been exhausted by the time I get home each evening.

Just thought I would share these cute bibs and the burp cloth that Jessica made and sent from Texas.  We love them!  Thanks, Jess!

Ready for Baby

Nick and I spent Saturday afternoon getting ready for baby.  We needed to get his nursery put together which has been put on the back burner, but it looks like we are ready to go.

Packed and ready for the hospital.

I ordered this wall decal off Etsy.  Nick and I were very nervous about putting it up because you only get one shot at getting it straight.  I think we did pretty well.

Brooklynn's old rocker.

Brooklynn thinks it is funny to see her old furniture in the baby's room.  She wanted to play in the crib when Nick got it put together.

Monkeys hanging from the ceiling.

I think we are all set with the exception of a few odds and ends we need to buy: diapers, wipes, and he needs some little socks.  Oh, I have not missed buying diapers. Costco, here we come! I'm sure they have missed our large diaper and wipe purchases over the past year.  Luckily, Brooklynn is potty trained so at least we don't have to buy pull ups AND diapers!

Goodbye Summer

Well I survived my first full week of school.  I have to admit that I was worried, but luckily I feel a little better being on my feet all day than I did sitting around for the few weeks after Mom passed away.  My ankles and legs don't feel fantastic, but I did make it until Thursday this week before they started swelling!

It looks like I have another sweet class this year, but I'm starting to stress about all the things that need to be done before Baby Farr gets here in a few weeks.  The paper work really piles up at the beginning of the school year and it looks like I'll spend most of my three day weekend working to get all of that taken care of.

Brooklynn loves, loves, LOVES her new preschool class.  Her teacher lets her bring a book to school everyday and they read it to the class. She really enjoys picking from her library each night and packing it in her school bag.  She really does love books.

B started her new dance class on Tuesday.  She was a little sad because we had to switch out of her old morning class that Mimi took her every week to a night class with new friends and a new teacher.  She had a great time though.  Every time I looked in the window she had her eyes glued to the teacher and was tapping away.
