Fun, Fun, Fun

Brooklynn has been a busy bee lately.  Friday at school they decorated caramel apples.  Here is B's apple.  She didn't eat it, well actually she just ate the marshmallows and candy corn.

Yesterday at school was pajama day.  I must say it was nice to just let B roll out of bed and go on to school. No ironing or fussing about what she does and doesn't want to wear.  I vote for more pajama days!  The fire trucks also came to visit her school yesterday and B got a fireman's hat.  When I went to pick her up she started whining that she wasn't ready to go home.

Today is favorite team day.  Of course B wore her orange and white.

And Mr. Hayden is doing well.  He is going to sleep a little quicker when he gets up at night.  He has a check up and shot this afternoon.  Here is a pic of him snoozing last week.

One Month Old

Our little guy is one month old today!  I can't believe he has already been here that long.  Here are a few things we've learned about Hayden in the past month.

- Hayden does not like to sleep between 2am and 4am.

- Hayden is always looking around the room trying to follow Brooklynn's voice.

- He sure likes to eat.

- He does not like to get his diaper changed.

Today I took some pics.  He wasn't very happy for most of the time.

Here is what Brooklynn looked like at one month old.

Rabun Gap

We took Hayden to Rabun Gap for the first time this weekend.  I was excited that Hayden got meet two of his great great aunts, Aunt Carolyn (Nana's sister in law) and Aunt Julia (Nana's sister).

I was hoping that Mom's headstone would have been put in already, but it looks like they are still working on it.  Here is a pic of the mountain Mom is buried on for those of you who could not attend the burial.
It is such a quiet peaceful place, and it's really beautiful this time of year when you look across the valley at all the fall leaves.

My friend Clayton came up from Atlanta about a month ago and brought some flowers.  I was surprised to see that they were still there and alive this weekend.

Boo in the Zoo

On Friday Kaley, Nick, and I took Brooklynn and Hayden to Boo in the Zoo.  A few years ago Mom and I tried to take B, but we couldn't even get in the parking lot it was so crowded.  This year I decided to get tickets beforehand and that was definitely a smart thing to do.

When we got to the zoo Friday night the line was a mile long.  I must say that we felt like celebrities as we bypassed everyone and walked right in with our pre-purchased tickets.  We went through the whole zoo in about 30 minutes because we were able to skip in front of the crowd.

Here are some pics.

Trick or Treat

Last year Brooklynn didn't really understand the point of Halloween.  I remember when people asked her what she was her response was, "I'm a costume!"

She definitely has the hang of it this year!

Dutch Cradle Cross

Today one of our preachers stopped by the house and brought Hayden a present.

It's a Dutch Cradle Cross.  I wasn't exactly sure what the story was behind the cradle cross, but this is what the paper said that came with it.

Jesus said, " Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for such belongs to the kingdom of heaven."  - Matthew 19:14

"With all their hearts, the Dutch believed in this passage from Holy Scripture and for centuries placed cradle crosses over the beds of thier infant children- that this symbol of the Christian faith might early become a part of the child's consciousness."

She also gave Hayden a book and a certificate.

Sweetie Pies

I have a new running buddy!  Well, walking buddy for now until I get the clearance from the doc to run again.  Hayden and I go for at least one walk every day.  He loves the stroller which is nice because B was never a fan of riding in the stroller.
Speaking of B, she is adjusting well to life as a big sister.  She is a good helper.  She has been a little whiny since Hayden arrived but I think that is her way of getting some attention.  Today, Nick took her to the movies.  She loves going to the movies!  In this pic she is adding some pennies to her piggy bank.

Bringing Back the TT Tub

Some of you may remember that when Brooklynn was a baby we got into the habit of calling the bathtub the tt tub.  Why you may ask?  Well, because she always went to the bathroom while in the tub.  The name just stuck.

Tonight we finally were able to give Hayden his first official bath. He handled his first scrub down much better than B. In fact, he was pretty content until we took him out.
Here are a few pics.

Enjoying the warm water.

All wrapped up.

Brrrr!

Well it looks like Hayden is carrying on the tt tub tradition.  Although his aim is a little better than B's if you know what I mean.  Let's just say that I had to change clothes afterwards.

Here he is getting his pajamas on afterwards.

If you are interested, here is the link to my post in 2009 of Brooklynn's first official bath.

Two Week Check Up

I took Hayden to the doctor today for his two week check up.  The goal was to be back to his birth weight of 9lbs by today.  Last Thursday when we went to the doctor Hayden weighed 8lbs 12 ozs.

Here are his stats as of today:

Weight: 9lbs 14 ozs - 83rd percentile
Length: 21 1/2 inches- 80th percentile

He certainly likes his bottles and gained a pound in one week!

He also had a little tag removed from his chest today.  He took it like a champ and didn't even cry.  Apparently, tags can be part of the blood flow, but Hayden's was not and it didn't even bleed.  Dr. Dobson said that was the easiest thing he had done all day!  I think he said that for my benefit.  He seemed more concerned with how I would react than with Hayden's reaction.  He must have lots of nervous mothers.  lol!

Captain Brooklynn

It's been a busy week around here. Aunt Stephanie came down from Knoxville on Tuesday and stayed for a few days.  Hayden was excited to meet her and they were able to spend some time together while Mommy ran some errands.

Today was a special day at Brooklynn's school.  They have been raising money for March of Dimes and today they got to dress up as Superheroes.  I spent some time earlier in the week trying to find B an outfit and I finally found this.

We don't know much about superheroes around our house, but apparently this is Captain America's daughter.  I have no idea who that is but B was excited about it. Here she is this morning before school with her brand new outfit.

And this is what her outfit looked like when she came home.
I think it's safe to say that someone played hard today.
