Happy Birthday, Uncle Blake!

Today was Blake's birthday! We celebrated with Blake, Pops, and Mimi at Arizona Steakhouse. Brooklynn had a good time snuggling up to her uncle. Above is a pic of the two as we left tonight in the pouring down rain. Sorry for the poor photo quality.

It's the weekend!

Brooklynn has had a fun filled week at school. We are happy that she really seems to love her new class and teachers. We were a little worried before they moved her bc she just didn't seem to like her old class. Things sure have changed. Every time I pick her up she is having a ball. I do feel a little sorry for her teachers though. She has a classroom full of boys who are always arguing with one another. Yesterday they were fighting over the computer. It always seems to involve tears and hitting, but Brooklynn doesn't seem bothered.
Today I'm heading to Atlanta, so B and Nick are planning a Daddy Daughter Day. I'm sure it will consist of a long nap!

Two Year Check Up

Yesterday Brooklynn finally had her two year checkup. She did such a fabulous job and didn't even cry when they took blood from her finger. She even waited patiently for what seemed like forever in the room. Once the doctor came in, she smiled and showed out the whole time. The doc even said that it is rare to see such a happy two year old girl during a check up!

Here are B's stats:
Length- 37.25'' 99th percentile
Weight- 29 lbs 75th percentile

Overall, he said she is looking good. Mimi came along with us because I told her how hard B is to handle at the doctor's office and I wasn't feeling real well. B sure made a liar out of me, because she didn't act up once. We met up with Pops for breakfast at Cracker Barrel afterwards and Mimi brought B two surprises from the store. B picked out a monster school bus with huge wheels and a stuffed lion. It's pretty strange that she picked the lion because she sure hasn't wanted anything to do with the lions at her two recent zoo visits.

Below are some pics of B practicing her high heel walking.

Smiles from Riverbanks Zoo

Well, it turns out that I wasn't as well as I thought in my last post. Sunday morning I went to the doc and found out I have strep. I must have infected a million people at the zoo, but in my defense I haven't even had a sore throat!

Here are some pics of Brooklynn enjoying the animals at the zoo on Saturday.

Brooklynn watching the elephants.

Her favorites are always the giraffes. She picked out another stuffed giraffe in the gift shop to bring home. Click on the pic and you can see the baby giraffe right over Nick's shoulder.

We had to go back to the turtles twice. B even told Nick tonight at bedtime that turtles eat vegetables.

She also remembered to tell Nick tonight that flamingos are pink!

I was impressed with the flamingos. Brooklynn preferred the fish nearby.

We knew our trip to Columbia was a success when we finally got back on the road and Brooklynn said, "I love animals. I love the zoo!" It made us smile.

Saturday

Sorry I haven't done much blogging this week. It was a busy one, and I felt bad for most of it. Today I felt a lot better so we headed to Columbia to the Riverbanks Zoo. B had a blast. I'll post pictures tomorrow!

Happy Valentine's Day . . . Again

Valentine's Day was just like any old day at our house. Brooklynn had already celebrated at school last week and over the weekend with Gram and then again last night with my parents. She got lots of cool things from her grandparents, great grandparents and Aunt Bidney. B sends her thanks and love! Thanks to Mimi and Pops also for the new glasses for Nick and me. I was getting a little tired of all the plastic football cups around our house. That present was much needed.

Here is a pic of B with Uncle Blake and Kaley last night at Pizza Hut.

Just as a side note I think Brooklynn's school was on to something when they decided to celebrate Valentine's on a Friday afternoon. I wish my school had decided to do the same. Monday afternoon parties are exhausting

Happy 88th Birthday, Uncle Dick. He and Aunt Carolyn also just celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary a few days ago!

Grandpa Brewer and Brooklynn?

I was looking through some old photos today and found this one of Grandpa Brewer (Nana's dad) and me when I was about B's age. I think that B and I look a lot alike in this pic. I'm also loving Grandpa Brewer's two different shoes! You can click on the photo to make it bigger.

Watch Out, Wade Robson!

Last night Brooklynn's school had a Valentine's Dance. Brooklynn wasn't real sure what to make of the disco lights, loud music, and millions of kids running around. The first hour we were there she wouldn't let go of my hands. She did a little dancing with Marlee and a friend from school, but mostly she was shy and nervous about all that was going on around the place. You will notice in the pics that she doesn't seem to be enjoying herself.

So, we ate some dinner and then decided to head home only to find Brooklynn running for the dance floor. What!? After an hour of encouraging her to dance and let go of Mommy's hands she finally wants to dance? We stuck around to see what kind of moves she had. This is what we learned:

So after about two hours of dancing and fun we learned that Brooklynn may have a future as a breakdancer. Watch out, Wade Robson!

Valentine!

Tomorrow is an exciting day for Brooklynn! She gets to pass out her valentines to all her friends at school during the class party tomorrow afternoon. Then tomorrow night B has invited cousin Marlee to join her at The Goddard School Valentines Dance! They are going to have a dj, light show, dance, and bounce house. Sounds like fun! We are hoping cousin Marlee is going to come along! :)

Below are some pics of B from last Sunday. B was helping Nick get ready for our Super Bowl Party.

Brooklynn, where are you?

Today when I picked B up from school she was in the bathroom. As I was waiting for her to finish, Creed walked up to me and said, "Where's Brooklynn, where's Brooklynn?" Then he walked around the room calling "Brooklynn, where are you?" It was pretty cute. They really are great buds.

Love is in the Air

At least for Brooklynn. Apparently Brooklynn has a new boyfriend at school. Yes, that means Sammy has been replaced. Brooklynn and Creed have been caught holding hands and her teacher told me today that they always have to play together and sit beside each other at snack and meal times. I know she talks about Creed a lot at home, but I didn't realize that the two can't be separated. Her note home today even said, "Brooklynn had a great time playing home living with Creed."

Just One of the Guys

Today we were walking through the mall when Brooklynn felt it necessary to rather loudly pass some gas. She quickly turned around and told the strangers behind us, "I POOTED!"

Oops, pretty soon she is going to start asking people to pull her finger.

Bedtime Story

Reading Brooklynn's favorite book tonight, "Mail Harry to the Moon!"

Smiles!

This morning Brooklynn demanded applesauce for breakfast. Nick gave in and after her first two bites Brooklynn happily stated, "This is delicious!"

This afternoon as B and I were leaving school Brooklynn stopped suddenly in the hallway pointed to a hair ball in the the corner and shouted, "Ewwwww, NASTY!" My thoughts exactly.

For those of you following Nick's posts on his firm's blog, you may enjoy Tuesday's post, An Open Letter to Joe Consumer. You can read it by clicking on the Abnormal Use link on my blog roll. As usual, any postings or comments you have for Nick are better suited here on B's page and not on the firm's. I promise to pass them along :)
