Brooklynn's Day

Warning: This post requires a little potty talk, so if you aren't interested stop reading now.

Brooklynn had a major breakthrough this week in her new class. She finally pooped in the potty. Yes, I know this may not seem like a big deal, but she has had a fear of it for weeks now. We tried bribing her with everything we could think of and finally Nick said the magic words, "Zoo!" She has waited since last Monday to finally get her trip to the zoo as her reward. So we officially made yesterday, Brooklynn's Day!

First we headed to Jelly Beans to get her mop shaped up. I love that place because they get her in and out before she even knows what happened. Then it was off to see her beloved animals.

Afterwards, Brooklynn wanted to play on the playground at Cleveland Park. I have to admit that the playground there could probably entertain me for a couple of hours. I had to fight the urge to climb on some of those crazy swings. It is by far the best playground in Greenville.
On the way home we stopped by Lebo's so Brooklynn could pick out her new dance leotard, tights, and ballet shoes. She starts class on Tuesday! Afterwards, B got to pick where we ate lunch. She picked Chick-Fil-A. She wanted chicken and honey mustard. Overall, I think she had a pretty exciting day.

Class Update: Last week was B's first week in her new class. She was definitely having a good time when I picked her up in the afternoons, but boy was she cranky at night. Those big kids can wear a little girl out. She also has had more accidents at school this week than she has had the whole time we have been potty training. Her teacher said that every accident has happened outside. They spend a lot more time outside than she did with her old class. We will see if she does better this week.

Wednesday News

Brooklynn has been doing great in her new class. She has had an accident every day at school this week, which is unusual. But adjusting to a new schedule, procedures, and classroom may have gotten her a little off track.
Today I got a call at school saying Brooklynn needed to be picked up bc they had a confirmed case of hand, foot, and mouth disease and that Brooklynn was also showing some of the symptoms. Today was my first day of school with my class, so luckily it was Mimi to the rescue! She picked B up and took her to the doctor. Dr. Bass said she looked great and had no signs of hand, foot, and mouth. Thank goodness we had Mimi close by to save the day! I don't know what I would have done otherwise. Thanks, Mimi!!

Happy Birthday, Marlee!

Saturday we celebrated cousin Marlee's third birthday! She had a Snow White party. Here are a few pics.
We've come a long way since the Character Breakfast earlier in the year.
It didn't take long for B to discover the big lollipops! She is still talking about that lollipop.
Brooklynn hijacked Marlee's present from Poopa and Gram. What a great place to eat that giant lollipop in a not very lady like fashion.

B was exhausted when we got home. I think a combination of all the Snow White fun and a full week of school wore a little girl out. She slept from 12:30-4:45! I even had to wake her up!

I would like to give a big thanks to Nick's co-worker, TJ, for donating some much needed dry erase markers to my classroom! We use whiteboards (that many of you helped purchase from my Donor's Choose Grant last year) to help save copy paper. Well we save lots of paper, but we go through lots of markers! Thanks again, TJ!

Also, I would like to thank Mimi for keeping Brooklynn all day friday. B's school had a teacher workday and I had Meet the Teacher night from 12-6. Thanks, Mimi!

August = New Beginnings

Last week B came to school with me to help set up my classroom. She walked right in, grabbed the masking tape and started rolling. I quickly asked myself, "How does a two year old know how to roll tape?" It finally occured to me that she has watched her teachers at school hang things on the wall for the past two years, so she certainly knew what to do. B also punched out letters and sorted them into bags. A future teacher in the making you may ask? I think so.

Brooklynn has been transitioning up to the next class this week. Just in time, I think! She seems a little bored going to school lately, so a new classroom may be just what she needs. Hopefully she will like her new teachers as much as Miss Chelsie and Miss Brittany.
Here is a pic of B ready to go to her new class this morning.

Thanks to Mom for helping get my first bulletin board together last week. Hanging up everything that needs to go in my classroom and in the hall with a fractured elbow isn't easy! School starts tomorrow for teachers, and my classroom is all set for the first day of school next week!

Sunday Fun

Yesterday we took Brooklynn to the Greenville Children's Museum. She loved the market and picking out her own groceries. She also loved Grandma Betty's Farm. Below are a few pictures.

Most of you probably know that I fell and fractured my elbow the week of Blake's wedding. Actually I didn't just fall, I ate the floor. Luckily the orthopedic doesn't like to cast elbows bc you lose your range of motion so quickly. He also told me that I wasn't allowed to run for 6 weeks! Well today is the two week mark and I could no longer wait to run. I have my first 10k the first weekend of September and I don't think I am going to be able to get back to 6 miles after taking two weeks off. Hopefully I can find another 10k this fall. My half marathon in November is also hanging in the balance. Thirteen miles may be out of reach by November. I ran one mile last night just to see how my arm felt and when I finished I could actually straighten my arm again!!! I always feel best after a run, and today my arm is feeling better than it has since I fell. Yay for running again!!

Blake and Kaley's Wedding

Last Saturday my big brother got married! Unfortunately my camera died, and I only got a few pictures.
Brooklynn had a ball at the reception! She was the first person out on the dance floor and she danced every dance all the way until the end of the reception. It is a good thing we just signed her up for dance classes. She starts at the end of August.

Below are the few pics I got before my camera died. Nick's mom got some more of B dancing. I'll post those as soon as I get them!
Ready for the rehearsal dinner
Sampling the roast beef. She also stuck her finger in the wedding cake! Oops!

Brooklynn had a blast dancing with everybody in the place. I saw at least four people pick her up and spin her around. She had a blast. Here she is dancing with cousin Claudia, a dance teacher! In a few more years Brooklynn will start clogging lessons with Claudia in hopes of carrying on the Bonner Family clogging tradition.

B also had a fabulous time with my cousin Michael's son, Luke. I have never seen her hit it off with another kid as well as she did with Luke. They were instant buddies. Unfortunately, Luke lives in Chicago. We may have to have a SKYPE date pretty soon. You can follow Luke's blog (The Rasmussens) from my blog roll.

A BIG thanks to all of our friends and family that made it down to Cartersville on Saturday. Many of you sat on 85 for hours due to that horrible wreck. We really appreciate you finding a way even though the interstate was shut down all day. That really meant a lot to Blake and our whole family. It's nice to know we have so many great friends who were willing to do whatever it takes to be at the wedding.

I also would like to give a big shout out to Nick's parents for coming down on Friday and helping out with Brooklynn all day Saturday. They also were ready for Brooklynn at the end of the aisle as she completed her flower girl duties. We really appreciate the help!
