Dad called last week and told me that before Mom died she told him that she wanted him to buy Blake and I something "frivolous" after she passed away and things calmed down. Something that we wanted but would never buy for ourselves. At first when Dad told me he was going to buy us something I got a little upset. Mom and Dad have already spent a fortune on doctor's bills and that is the last thing he needs to worry about. But Dad said that she wanted us to have something for helping to take care of her this summer when she was so sick. I realized after talking to Dad that Mom wanted to do this to make us smile because she knew that we would be sad and missing her greatly.
Something frivolous?!? I was thinking that we could buy a new pair of shoes. My Clark's are getting kind of worn out. Uh, no. Dad had something much better in mind . . .
Imagine our shock when Dad told us that he was having golf carts built any way we wanted them.
Yes, I have really wanted a golf cart. In our neighborhood every night families ride around with their kids on the back and in the summer time people use them to go back and forth to the pools. I've mentioned it to Nick several times, but he wasn't biting. He sure got excited when he found out we were getting one! Today Dad delivered them. The pic above is actually Blake's golf cart. I, of course, opted for the striped orange seats. They have been back ordered but will be installed next week. Until then, we will make do with plain old white seats. :)
A trip to Mr. Knickerbocker's this weekend will be necessary so we can add some much needed Clemson paws! I'm pretty sure Mom wouldn't approve of that!
