It's a Party!

Brooklynn was super excited yesterday to go to the birthday party of her buddy Davis. Here we are backing out of the driveway.

She got to play all sorts of fun games with her friends from school.

Her favorite part of the whole party was the parachute. I can't get the video to upload tonight. I'll try again tomorrow.

A Day with Gram and Poopa

Yesterday Brooklynn spent the afternoon with Gram and Poopa while Nick and I headed to Clemson for the basketball game. She was so excited to see Gram and Poopa! I'm pretty sure she had a blast because we barely made it out of the neighborhood before she crashed. She even slept until 8:30 this morning! That never happens.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day . . . a little late. Last week was so busy that I didn't have any time to post all the cool things B got from her family for Valentine's Day.

On Tuesday Gram and Poopa came over and dropped off a really cool floor puzzle and goodies. They also left B some money for some much needed spring clothes. Granny, Papa, and Bidney also sent B some awesome Valentine's goodies.

Mimi and Pops got B some pretty good gifts including this outfit.

Over the weekend Uncle Blake and Aunt KK stopped by with this Valentine present for B. Aunt KK glued all of these beads on by hand. Now B has this cute mirror to hang up in her new bedroom.

It's Can't Be True!

But it is! I actually was successful at cooking! Yesterday I decided to search for some quick and easy crock pot recipes. I found a few and decided this was the week to see if I can actually fix a meal successfully from scratch. Yes, I know some of you must be giggling to yourselves, but hey you can't learn unless you try.

I decided to play it safe last night with a chicken and rice casserole that I've been successful with, so all I needed was a side. Nick loves mac and cheese, so I gave it a try in the crock pot! It was delicious. This side will definitely be added to the rotation.

Pet Therapy

Yesterday it was time to volunteer again. It was my turn to pick, so I chose Pet Therapy. This is one of the harder volunteer jobs to sign up for because it is always full. After participating I now know why.

I picked Kristy up and we headed to the Humane Society. Once we got there (there were two other volunteers in our group) we picked out four of the cutest lab beagle mix puppies. We gave them baths and then loaded them up in my car to take to Rolling Green. Rolling Green is a huge retirement village in Greenville. There are houses, apartments, a nursing home, assisted living etc. We were scheduled to take the dogs to the assisted living and nursing home area.

When we got there we let the puppies play outside for a few minutes. Here is a video of them playing.

This was my puppy, Fay. She was definitely the biggest and calmest of the group. There could not have been a more perfect lap dog. She fell asleep in about 90 percent of the laps I plopped her down in. She especially bonded with Mr. Jackson an older gentleman in the nursing home area. I hated to take her away. This picture is from Mr. Jackson's bed.

Even though Fay was super sweet, it was Joe that stole my heart. I had a hard time walking away from this guy, but the last thing Nick would want to see me bring home on a Saturday morning is a new puppy. Hopefully Joe finds a good home.

Overall I would say that this was the most rewarding volunteer opportunity yet. It was so much fun to watch people react to theses puppies. I guess you don't realize how much you miss interaction with animals until you can't have them around anymore. Kristy and I have already signed up for our next Pet Therapy, but we couldn't get in until April!!!

Valentine's Dance

Yesterday Brooklynn's school held their annual Valentine's Dance! Brooklynn was super excited to attend. As soon as we got there she spotted her best bud, Maya, and away to the dance floor they went. Let me apologize in advance for the quality of the pictures. I was using my camera phone which really couldn't handle the lights and movement.
