Brooklynn has arrived!

It is that time of year when the people sit around in various locations watching their respective balls drop to ring in a new year.  Midnight, December 31 is significant to people in all corners of the world, but for Jill and I that time will forever fail in comparison to 3:05 p.m. December 29.  On Monday, we welcomed Brooklynn Brown Farr into this world with a celebration and countdown that will leave those in Times' Square green with envy.  We have been anxiously waiting for 39 weeks for Jill's January 5th due date, but Brooklynn, like her parents, just doesn't think gifts have the same effect unless given at least a week ahead of time.  December 29 will forever be our New Year's Eve as we celebrate ushering in a new and exciting era in Brooklynn's life.  Who needs New York confetti when you have stinky diapers and a lack of sleep?

Our First Video

Jill and I were fortunate enough to receive a new video camera for Christmas. In the future, expect this camera to be the instrument for subjecting you all to the multitude of significant events in Brooklynn's life (i.e. anything Jill and I think is cute (everything)). Until then, Jill and I have chosen to reveal all of the important videos we are making with our new toy. This video is Jill's first Steven Spielberg experience behind the camera. Who needs Owen Wilson and Marley when you have me and Tugboat as actors? Check back soon for more pointless videos!

Christmas Day

Nick and I had a quiet Christmas today.  We got up, fixed breakfast and opened all of Brooklynn's many presents!  She received so much stuff that we had to clean out the nursery and even the bathroom.  We were excited to get a new video camera so we can post videos of Brooklynn when she arrives.   We also received the bathroom shower curtain and rug that match her nursery, along with any thing baby we could ever need!  Brooklynn's library is also quickly growing - we had to upgrade the size of her book basket today.  What a nice problem to have!  After organizing the apartment we ended up napping most of the afternoon.  Poor Nick will probably be up all night tonight because he slept so long this afternoon. It was sad being away from our families this year, but hopefully New Year's will be much more exciting!  The rest of our Christmas pics are posted on our album link!

Playing with our new camera

We've had a good time this week playing with our new camera.  Here are just a few of the many pictures we have taken.  My favorite is the picture of Nick wearing Brooklynn's Christmas present.  He couldn't resist trying it out!  You can see the rest of the pictures on the Family Pictures link.

Day Care

We FINALLY got Brooklynn into a day care today!  It is a little on the expensive side, but we think it will be worth making our first true  parental sacrifice.  We were sold on the school when discovering that the teachers are actually individuals with child development or education degrees.  Brooklynn will get to participate in daily yoga lessons, music class, jump bunch, sign language, Spanish, and arts and crafts!  Nick decided that it would be worth getting a job to have Brooklynn in an actual school instead of hanging around in a crib at a regular day care all day.  (He also thought it was cool that parents have to use a thumbprint to get into the building).  It looks as if we will be eating lots of peanut butter and jelly while Tugboat will be relegated to Ol' Roy for the next year and a half.

We appreciate all of the prayers to help Brooklynn find the perfect day care.  Now we ask that those prayers be shifted to finding a way to help us pay for it!  In the end, we know that God always provides (and Brooklynn will know how to teach us the "squatting dog" yoga position).   For those interested, check out the link to Goddard School!

Brooklynn's New Page

Nick and I decided to switch Brooklynn's web site to Blogspot.  We couldn't figure out why the pictures were blurry on Shutterfly, and we were also disappointed to find out you can't post videos.  We've deleted her old page and will be posting updates on this site in the future.
